Edgar Allan Poe

from $22.00
Who wants some EAP facts?

- Considered the pioneer of the detective story: Poe is often credited with pioneering the detective fiction genre. His character C. Auguste Dupin, introduced in "The Murders in the Rue Morgue," was a prototype for fictional detectives that followed, such as Sherlock Holmes.

- Famous works: "The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Fall of the House of Usher," (WHO IS WATCHING THIS RIGHT NOW), and "The Raven," which remains one of the most famous poems in American literature.

- Literary innovations: Poe was one of the first American writers to attempt to make a living solely from writing. Unfortunately, he was not financially successful during his lifetime. [SEE? IT'S NOT JUST YOU, BABE.]

- The Raven: His poem "The Raven," published in 1845, brought him national fame but little financial success. It has since been adapted and referenced in numerous forms of media and is one of his most widely recognized works.

- Mysterious death: Edgar Allan Poe died under mysterious circumstances on October 7, 1849. He was found delirious and in someone else's clothing in Baltimore and never regained sufficient consciousness to explain what had happened to him.

Gives a whole new meaning to the quote "I am a writer; therefore I am not sane," hey?

Available in 11 oz., 15 oz., and 20 oz. options. Dishwasher and microwave safe.
